2. Workshops
Time Out! Meditating to Find the Calm Beneath the Storm
(Sat. Dec. 6, 3:00 - 4:30 p.m.)
Cost: Free. Registration Required (see below)
Join Jim Readey, Kripalu-Certified Yoga Teacher and Holistic Health Instructor, for this free
Concord Food Co-op Wellness Educator class. Space is limited, preregistration is required.
We are all born with the innate ability to let go of, and resolve, stressful situations ... while remaining
actively engaged with the world around us. At this time of year, we seem to forget that. Join senior
Kripalu yoga teacher Jim Readey for a thoroughly relaxing, user-friendly meditation experience that will
lead you back to the joy that sits patiently beneath life's busy-ness. Lying down or sitting comfortably,
you will be gently guided to explore your deeper interior through a technique called yoga nidra. The journey
will help dispel the mystery surrounding meditation, and you will leave feeling refreshed, more fully alive ...
and even, perhaps, with new insights into you life.
All are welcome!

5. Other Recent Class Additions:
~ Yoga For Fitness
(Sundays 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. )
If you want to get in shape in a hurry, this is probably the class for you. This special yoga class
combines muscle toning and cardio work with the magic of yogic stretching and deep relaxation.
Our sessions move right into warm-ups, followed by a vigorous posture flow
guaranteed to strengthen, stretch, and tone both upper and lower body.
The yogic nature of our "workout" also helps us rejuvenate our internal organs and entire nervous system.
And each week, we also spend a short time highlighting the details of a different posture
or technique so that students eventually become intimately familiar with each pose in
the flow, and able to practice them with complete safety.
Notes :
~ All classes are ongoing (begin whenever you're ready!)
~ Try out other times and teachers as you desire
(students are not "locked" into any one time slot)

6. Helpful Practice Tips
● Signing up for classes. This is very simple ... just show up anytime for your first class (see our schedule), and
you can sign up with your teacher then. (Checks should be made payable to "The Yoga Center".)
● Clothing. Wear loose, comfortable clothing ... anything that you are comfortable moving in.
It's really a personal preference. There is no need to buy specialized "yoga wear".
Layers can be helpful (e.g., a tee shirt and a sweatshirt), in case your body temperature changes during the class.
● Mats. About half our students bring mats, and half don't use a mat at all (partly because
we have a carpeted floor). Again, this is a personal preference.
● Arrival. Please try to arrive 10 or 15 mins. early to class to settle in, do your own warm-ups and stretches, etc.
-- if you arrive late, that's okay. (If you are running late, try breathing deep, slow, relaxing breaths on your way!)
But if we are in our silent centering meditation in the beginning of class, come in, and sit immediately
(and quietly) near the door. Please do any unzipping, jacket removal, etc. outside the room before coming in.
And please do not lay out your mat at this time, or otherwise make noise, that will distract the other
students in their meditation.
● Shoes. Please leave all footwear in the front entrance. (See “Carpeting” remarks below.)
● Hygiene/Carpeting. We try to maintain clean carpets because students practice in bare feet,
and we place our feet, hands, and even faces on or near the floor. For this reason, please do not place
used Kleenex or other unhygiene material on the floor in our practice area.
● Health Conditions. If you are pregnant, have any injury, or have a health condition or concern, please inform
the instructor at the earliest possible time (e.g., by phone or email, or speaking before class). Please do not come to class if you have a cold or other contagious condition.
● Cancellations. If you are unsure whether class will be held (e.g., due to weather issues), please check the
homepage of this website. In addition, you should contact your teacher directly, or call the Center (226-0680)
and leave a message.
If you are in doubt and wish to be called back, however, please leave your phone number and a request to be updated.
● Electronics. Please turn off cell phone, pager, etc. before entering the yoga studio.
● Scents. Please do not wear cologne, perfume, or other scented products -- we do lots
of [deep] breathwork, and many students can find such scents to be objectionable
● Eating. Avoid practicing on a full stomach.
● Drinking. Keep hydrated; bring a water bottle, and drink no more than 4 oz. per 1/2 hour.

7. Financial assistance available
At The Yoga Center, our goal is that no one be turned away from class for lack of funds.
We are happy to support those whose finances would otherwise prevent them from attending class,
while balancing the Center’s need for financial viability.
We are dedicated to serving others, and we are not teaching yoga primarily to earn an income.
We must earn an income, however, in order to continue to serve others in this way. This is a balance.
If the Yoga Center were to fail as a business, for example, more than a hundred students,
and several teachers, would sorely miss it ... not to mention all the other people whose lives are
touched by those who pass through our doors.
If you are interested in obtaining financial assistance to attend classes at The Yoga Center,
simply request a financial aid form from your teacher, or by writing to yogaphile@yahoo.com.
